realistic and personal training, that's how change happens

New sliding-scale pricing for coaching or consulting between 1-4pm EST

At Tate Body Sciences, our expertise is in helping you overcome doubt and frustration about approaching exercise. This is about understanding the balance of your day, exercise programming and eating enough... and sleeping enough to adapt.

Often our clients find us after being diagnosed with chronic pain or inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases like Hashimoto’s, Multiple Sclerosis, movement disorders like Parkinson’s, or multiple co-morbidities leading to fatigue and frustration and delaying or under-utilizing powerful exercises.

Founded by Scott Tate (H.BSc. HK), who brings over 15 years of practice and observation to the table and guided by Dr. Erin TeWinkel (ND) and Jaime Glassman (R.Kin) we’re always wondering what we can do differently to get you taking action sooner.

We have two streams of clients we work best with: those who have a complicated situation and want to keep moving without hiccups, and those who move well, but want to take their bodies, and their understanding, to an elite level.

With a blended team that includes a Kinesiologist, a Naturopathic Doctor, and a personal trainer, you can be confident you’re getting the best possible care and support, emphasizing personalization and building on what you can do, never what you can’t do.

Do you suffer from chronic pain, disease or fatigue but you've got the medical OK to exercise? Start with our Kinesiologist Jaime's guide to planning your weekly exercise below:

Our Approach

We build custom exercise plans or help troubleshoot existing prescriptions. Essentially, we're exercise problem solvers (many of our clients call us "therapeutic exercise consultants" in fact).

Our highly personalized exercise plans are tailored to your needs and goals. Whether you prefer 1:1 coaching, accountability-pod programs, or self-study courses, we will develop programs that will work for you. Our team works together to create a custom plan that includes therapeutic exercises, post-rehab and pain management, and other coaching strategies to help you achieve your goals. Together, we’ll build an environment designed for your success so you can move toward your goals consistently and enjoy the journey too!

Since the pandemic, we've all had to adapt many things, so if you're building a new home gym or working with what you think might be limited options, we're full of surprises!

Why tate Body Sciences?

Don't let us be your last resort; start moving with confidence again.

The phys. ed. we got in school was great, but it didn't prepare us for the strength training we need in this modern age. Your body is built to move and heal itself and will with the proper doses of exercise and non-exercise activity (my favourite of which include eating and sleeping ;) - let us help you make a plan that sticks.

 SOME OF OUR PROGRAMS

One-on-One & Group Online Programs

Physical Health Plan Management: Focus on Therapeutic Exercise

E.L, a retired health care professional, was looking for someone to monitor his bio and psychometric data, make plans and tailor his exercise and movement sessions to reflect his existing health concerns too. This was the option for him.

Private Coaching Plans: Focus on post-rehab and pain management

D and I know their way around the gym, but want variety and assurances they're maximizing inputs. They want someone who can get the most out of their training sessions and create realistic home-programs based they can do.

Online-Only programming: For those that need to go at their own pace but not entirely alone

E.T is a busy mom and professional, so she needs programs that fit her actual time in the gym, periodic sessions to dial in form and confidence and access to tutorials and information to help her stick to the plan she's evolving.

Customer Stories

One of the best pieces of luck I’ve had was finding Scott Tate to help me with my movement disorders caused by Parkinson’s.  The progress and the results have given me confidence that I can sustain a level of activity to allow me to retain a quality of life in the face of Parkinson’s symptoms. Scott’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology is amazing. And you couldn’t meet a nicer guy. I’ve referred a lot of people to Scott and everyone has been quite pleased.

I was referred to Scotty by one of his Parkinson's clients. I've had years of chronic pain due to dystonia and secondary spinal cord damage which necessitated spinal decompression surgery. I have experienced significant improvements leading to a dramatic change in the quality of my life, I now can do many things I was previously unable to, the workouts are always evolving and enjoyable due to Scott's' pleasant personality and sense of humour. (hopefully you are not weeping)

I met Scott when a friend recommended him for a 'second opinion'.  I'd been working towards a pull up for more than two years with my trainer but just couldn't achieve it.  Scott spent an hour assessing, teaching and motivating me and before the hour was up I completed my first (and second!) pull up at age 41! His in-depth knowledge of movement and supportive style has been a resource and an inspiration to me as I've grown my athletic practice.  Besides being an expert in his field, Scott is a superb teacher - and that's rare.
